LUSH shower gels are also excellent shampoos. As our shower gels are loaded with fresh, natural ingredients and contain very little water, a little goes a long way.

I'll start off by saying that my discovery of Lush has just about ruined my life (or rather, completely uplifted and changed my life; and utterly destroyed my bank account). I used to be a champion 5 minute shower girl; I used standard drugstore products and it seemed like I could never use enough to get my skin and hair moisturized and looking good, and I ended up just drying myself out. Now, I'm not going to even bring up the amount of time I spend in there.
Sonic Death Monkey has got to be one of my favorite shower gels ever. The lather is luxurious (and all you need is a drop), the scent is intoxicating and definitely the perfect wake up kick (I haven't smelled anything remotely tobacco-like. Although another reviewer mentioned that it could be the hemp oil; maybe I just got a bottle with less of that?
In any event, GONE are the days where just 5 minutes of drugstore shower gel left my delicate, honey brown, scar-and ash-prone skin dry, flaky, and ashy, and slathering on gobs of lotion multiple times a day was a fact of life, not an option. I now get out of the shower and dry off - in the middle of winter, mind you - and my skin feels so soft and smooth that it almost isn't necessary to put on any lotion....
...Although of course, I do, because how could I resist another excuse to pamper myself another Lush product?

I have been using Sonic Death Monkey for a LONG time, I have gone through at least a dozen bottles. Love it, depend on it, addicted to it. However, the last two I ordered have been watery, limp, and non lathering. I miss the old thick, rich consistency that lathered up well, and only required a small amount to do so. Now, the last two bottles I've gotten over the last couple of months run like diluted water. Doesn't lather up well, doesn't have the same love it used to :(

I purchased this product because i wanted to try all the lush retro products to see if i'd missed out on anything. Indeed I have.
Sonic Death Monkey is great... if you REALLY--I MEAN REALLY- enjoy the smell of coffee. Not your wimpy coffee already brewed & waiting for you on the counter at starbucks coffee--I mean the really basic coffee beans smell. Its VERY STRONG and with the touch of lime & chocolate, it makes the smell almost painful.
And the texture is not thick at all. its very runny and easily gets all over the place.
So, if you don't like coffee that much then its not for you. I don't care for it but my friend who is a coffee fanatic, took it off my hands and is down to the last drop.

I wasn't sure whether I would love this, but I figured it was worth trying for [$].When I first opened it, I was surprised that it smelled more chocolate-lime than chocolate-orange. I handed it over to my brother, who said "it's interesting". I agreed, but the scent stuck in my head and in no time I absolutely loved it.As far as the shower experience with Sonic Death Monkey, it's not drying at all! I used it in my hair with favorable results. The scent didn't linger for very long, so I keep cracking the bottle open to smell it. I can't wait to shower with it again.

After waking up with a humongous migraine headache, I was greeted by a chocolatey scent (in the bath) which reminded me of my favorite chocolate spread, Nutella. After my bath I covered my arms with the soft coeur (chocolatey) massage bar. It was a total chocolate experience. I cannot say enough about it! The migraine was gone

I personally don't care for the scent of this gel but my 10 year old daughter is GAGA over it. She uses it daily and always comments how addicted she is to it HA HA I am not big on baking type scents and this is a mocha type with chocolate and coffee. It seems to keep her clean and she is happier to get in the bath and get clean. I don't hate the scent .. I just prefer others over this.

at first sniff i wasn't terribly overwhelmed with sonic death monkey and once i got it in the shower i liked it even less. but later on in the day i was like what is that wonderful yummy smell, i was pleasantly surprised to find out it was me!! i have been hooked on the monkey since then and it has quickly become one of my lush must haves!! i love how the scent lingers all day and its always a nice pick me up when i catch a whiff of it throughout the day. i'm not a morning person to say the least and this never fails to get me going in the mornings!! the only con is it is really runny but thankfully a little bit goes a long way!!

I Love the smell of this product!! It is a perfect wake up call in the morning, and the scent actually lasts. (on me and in my bathroom)

i bought this item because everyone in the lush store was teliing me how it smelt so good and smelled just like chocolate. ok well i get it and it smells nothing like chocolate more like a nasty cigarette toliet in the back of a bar. i made myself us it just to see if the product would have a different smell in the shower....well it didn't. i will absolutely never purchase this product again!!!!

I have long been a fan of Sonic Death Monkey. It gets me up in the morning and after a particularly bad day, keeps me calm and mellow. I don't suppose I smell the choco notes as strong as some of the others, and I often dream of cool nights and clove ciggarettes when I use this one. :) My favourite by far!

If you have trouble facing your day, what better way to wake up and smell the coffee that scrubbing yourself all over with a mixture of coffee and cocoa based shower gel? The scent is mild but pleasant, and it is very invigorating to your skin. Probably you will not need this every day, but Sonic Death Monkey is an excellent option when those 2 morning espressos don't cut the mustard and you find the day is starting without you. Sonic Death Monkey and a loofa--who could ask for more?

I used this once but the smell was so strong and nauseating that I couldn't fall asleep that night. I had to spray perfume all over my arms to cover the smell. I don't know what it was, but it just smells so strong and weird, sort of like "special" brownies or something. I was not a fan.

It's the powerful edgy coffee fragrance that first hits your senses. Then it is sweetened by a chocolate chaser and warmed by citrus notes. There also seems to be a slight woody tobacco-esque smell too. Makes me think of gentlemen in conservatories that keep sweets hidden in their desks. Proper yet ooh la la! It's a little spendy but if you love coffee and chocolate you should invest. :)

Jury's out on this one. I like "Sonic Death Monkey", but not enough to marinade in it. It's a nice switch-up from my everyday stuff, but there's not enough coffee and chocolate in this bottle for me- I smell mostly lime and something sort of like coffee and no chocolate at all. I'm still craving a chocolatey shower gel- please bring back 13 RABBITS so I can grab it.
Great lather, makes wonderful suds in the bath, doesn't dry the skin, actually is quite soothing for razor burn ironically, and doubles well as a shampoo if need be. Stuff runs thin though so you'll use it up quicker.
A decent product- with a little more coffee and chocolate added to my bottle next time, I will be a much more satisfied LUSH customer.

So happy to see this back. For MONTHS I was haunted by its disappearance, and spent a considerable amount of time and money trying to find a replacement to feed my SDM addiction. When I saw it back, I was elated. However, the formula is watery dribble and half the bottle is wasted in no time. I am glad to be able to smell the wondrous SDM aroma again, but the formula is a watery mess. A complete waste, especially for how much it costs :(
