How to use

Wet both hair and the shampoo bar. Glide the shampoo bar down the length of your hair about three times (right, left and back). You may need additional swipes depending on hair volume. Work into a lather and rinse thoroughly. Follow with LUSH conditioner. Keep your solid shampoo in a cool, dry place between uses; we recommend using a LUSH shampoo bar tin.

Most regular shampoos & conditioners can leave residues in your dreadlocks causing mold to grow, thus making your lovely locks rather smelly. Luckily Lush has an all natural dandruff shampoo so dread heads with flaky scalps don't have to suffer. I had a terribly dry scalp and Soak and Float nearly got rid of my dandruff. It lathers extremely well, even with long thick dreadlocks.
I was kind of worried about the smell as scents do tend to linger with dreads. And it did seem somewhat odd at first, but after a couple uses I really started to love it. "Campfire" is definitely the best description.
I have no complaints.

I was very excited to try this after experiencing diminishing returns with Head&Shoulders, no matter how bad it smelled. Unfortunately, after a few weeks of using it every time I wash my hair (every other day, usually), my scalp is still itchy, and the flakes have only decreased a little bit. In that way, it's AS effective as my previous shampoo, so because it's no worse, I'm going to keep using it. It's as cheap or cheaper, use for use, and more environmentally friendly, so why not?

As a shampoo, it works great. After an unpleasant experience with a sample of Trichomania, I was STUNNED at how easy it was to get great lather out of S&F with just 3-4 swipes across my head. I left it on my scalp while I washed my face, as recommended by the sales associate, and it rinsed out very easily. I followed it with my regular moisturizing conditioner, and my hair was still shiny and beautiful as ever once it dried.

Bottom line: good as shampoo, not so good as anti-dandruff shampoo. Not for me, at least.

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

if you let it air out a bit the smell will not be quite so concentrated. I have coarse pony mane(think shetland pony) and a dandruff issue the last 2 years, I tried the over the counter stuff in bottles(one left me with skin burns) desperate I tried this, I figured my migraines could just take a back seat if it would clear up the itchy flaky stuff going on. holy snikes lushies it WORKED in one treatment. them little flakes were pealing right off and vanishing. i used twice a week and the bar lasted me 5 months, takes 7 swipes to get all my hair.

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

This is definitely not a shampoo for everyone. If I didn't have a scalp condition I probably would never go near it. The smell is very smokey, which puts most people off. It reminds me a bit of the way your hair smells after a campfire though, so I don't mind it too much. As far as being a dandruff treatment, it worked for me, but I don't use it alone. Because I have seborrheic dermatitis I have to alternate between 2 or 3 anti-dandruff ingredients to keep it under control. But using this as one of the 3, it definitely did it's job. I recommend switching it up with Head and Shoulders of Selsun to keep the dandruff and itching under control.

First off, I LOVE Lush and all (minus one) their products... However, this product stanks! I wouldn't even wash my outdoor dog with it... although I bet he would relish in the opportunity.
So, the smell is just too much to even apply to my noggin. I'm sure that the product works for dandruff, but I would take dandruff over smelling like smoked salmon.... Please make this smell better :)

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

I was pretty skeptical when my girlfriend bought me S&F. I've used every name-brand anti-dandruff shampoo under the sun and none of them helped out much. I didn't have high hopes for this solid shampoo. I was warned by the harsh odor, but I think it's very pleasant. It reminds me of campfire. On it's own, it worked marginally better than the name-brands I used. However, I found when I paired it with Head&Shoulders conditioner, it killed off all of my flakes. Soak&Float is good stuff, but for people with bad dandruff like me, you should pair it with a commercial anti-dandruff shampoo. It worked wonders on my head.

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

I bought this because it was too much of a hassle to use Snake Oil for my scalp eczema every 5-7 days and I was hoping this would help to soothe my scalp. It does just that. It doesn't have the immediate tingle that Snake Oil does because of the lack of peppermint oil but it has cut down on my number of welts, bumps, and huge patches of irritation behind my ears. However, it leaves my super thick, curly/wavy hair prone to tangles and with lots of flyaways even after using Jungle. Since it's down past my shoulder blades in length, it's a major pain to have to untangle. I've been able to remedy this by using Soak and Float at my roots and then using either Curly Wurly or Trichomania for the length of my hair. It's kind of annoying and time consuming to have to wash that way, but the scalp relief thus far seems to make it worth it.

As for the smell, it's not terrible. Campfire is not my ideal scent but Jungle does a great job of covering it.

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

One of the best shampoos I have tried. I have very thick wavy hair that tends to get oily while my scalp tends to get very dry especially in the approaching winter months. I am always on the look out for a shampoo that I can use regularly, that doesn't dry my scalp out, and that doesn't leave my hair feeling stripped of natural oils. This is definitely the product for all of those things. I could easily go without conditioner (if I had to) and this would leave my hair feeling extremely soft and conditioned. Will definitely be buying more/trying more from the Lush haircare line. The only downside(?), if I could call it that, is that my roommate thought I was smoking in the bathroom because the smell is quite strong. I think it resembles the odor of cooked charcoal, but the product is so amazing that it doesn't bother me at all. You've made a believer out of me Lush!

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

This product is simply amazing. The best dandruff product I have tried. I have been cursed with dandruff and oily hair since I can remember. I used to use Head and Shoulders, which worked alright until they changed all their formulas and each type made my hair sticky. It was terribly frustrating, and that is when I decided it's time to try this alternative.
I have not looked back since. I will use this shampoo bar forever.
On my first week, I used it straight for 7 days, and now I only use it once a week and it keeps my scalp completely flake free.

I can understand why people may not like the smell, but to me it smells like campfire so I actually enjoy it.
Soak and Float and Jumping Juniper are my haircare warriors =)

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

I was graced with the gifts of dandruff and oily hair...somehow. And I've tried everything, literally everything. Because I have oily hair if I use Head and Shoulders or some other dandruff shampoo it makes it look like I just got out of a swimming pool just a day or so after showering. So I gave up on trying to find something for the dandruff. Because let's face it, when you're between the ages of say eleven and seventeen, having little "flurries" on your shoulders is better than having it look like someone poured a bottle of olive oil over your head.

One day I went into Lush with a friend of mine. He has extreme dandruff and they recommended Soak and Float among other things. He didn't buy it but I took the advice and bought it a few weeks later. I wasn't turned off by the harsh smell, I love the smell of a campfire, (I was a girl scout for ten years I got used to it).

I tried it and I like it(my family hates the smell but they can deal with it). It doesn't leave my hair crazy, super over-moisturized like other dandruff shampoos used to. Finally, after struggling with it between the ages of eleven and twenty-one, I don't have to chose between having the light dusting of dandruff on my shoulders and having it look like I washed my hair with straight olive oil. And it smells like a campfire, which is a perfect sent for the fall and winter :)

it stunk. bad. put it outside for a day it got better I think it was just it was trapped in a paper wrapper for its fed-ex ride to my house. I did notice the horrid smell comes back if you put it in a shampoo bar tin. I stuck it on a plastic slotted soap holder, works fine and doesn't reek to high heaven anymore. and omg LATHER. lots of it. works great on the dandruff but I have to do more then 3 swipes, I got really thick coarse pony mane type hair...if I were a pony I'd be a old type shetland with the forelocks that cover the ears. thats the kinda hair I have. hair that doesn't like to be tamed, hair that eats brushes and anything else, hair that goes into a blonde fro with a blow dryer. hair that calmed itself down after using this. I last ordered before Easter. I've still got some left and use it daily. it lasts forever, and it actually worked. so if you think of things in terms of cost, I've spending less then 2 bucks a month to have calmed down dandruff free hair. how awesome is that Lush? I love you soak and float and the peeps that made it!

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

OMG!!! I have tried every dandruff shampoo out there and they never really worked. They would control the dandruff some but the itching would still continue. My itchy scalp would get so bad that I would even develop a rash and sores. Without fail, I would shampoo & condition my hair, put my hair up in a towel and the itching would start. Today I got my Soak and Float shampoo and tried it out.
I first used the snake oil, after about 20 minutes I hopped in the shower and lathered up my hair with the solid shampoo. I was surprised at just how easy it was to use. Right away I felt a difference, I literally had no more itchiness. I also used a little bit of the I Love Juicy shampoo only to wash out some of the smell from the Soak and Float, which happens to be my only con about this shampoo, it smells absolutely putrid. Nonetheless, I will put up with the smell for the amazing results. After using both shampoo's I used the Coolaulin Conditioner just to make my hair a little more manageable since the Soak and Float is little drying. However, it does not compare to say the Neutrogena dandruff shampoo. The Neutrogena is extremely drying and even gave me several split ends. The Soak and Float was nowhere near that drying.

All in all I HIGHLY recommend this shampoo to anyone who has a very dry, itchy, flaky scalp.

When I first got the bar I used it regularly, and I noticed a real improvement in my psoriasis and my dandruff. It is quite harsh, so if you've got hair that's very dry, I'd recommend using in combination with a more moisturizing regimen. Now I'm using it more sparingly but it helps keep my scalp in check.

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

I bought this bar because my friend recommended it to me. I'd never used a shampoo bar before, but I had no problem getting it to lather. It makes my hair feel very clean, unlike other shampoos that eave a residue. I like the smell a lot, but I can see why some people wouldn't like it. Seems to be clearing up my scalp; I know it feels less itchy and it's only been a week. I've got the tin as well and it's been keeping my bar dry and clean so far. I can't to try out the solid conditioner.

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

I have a really bad scalp, but this just wasn't the right product for it. It didn't lather as well as I like shampoos to lather. I actually really like the smell compared to some dandruff shampoos I've used, and it made my scalp better, but it just didn't do anything for my hair!

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

I went to Lush and asked for something for a very dry scalp, and was recommended this product. I immediately fell in love with the campfire-y smell! I was sold as quickly as I had arrived! When I first used it, I wasn't expecting such a thick full lather with such a small amount of effort!
I also didn't expect a miracle cure to my dry scalp, and the first time I used it, there was only a very small amount of improvement, more than I had expected though. After using it for a week or so, I have noticed a VAST IMPROVEMENT to my scalp, no itchiness, very few flakes, and it's visually healthier! I am so impressed with this product and would recommend it over and over!

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

I use this in addition to a fruity scented conditioner most times. I know a lot of others dislike the scent of this, but I rather enjoy it. It's different from anything else I've ever used. It's like a campfire or a breakfasty scent to me. I find that when used in addition to a fruit smelling conditioner, the two smells combine and lessen intensity of the shampoo bar. It has helped with my dandruff like no other product. I purchased it in San Francisco at the Powell street store at first. Now I don't live by a Lush, so I make it a point to order it whenever I run out. I never want to be without this amazing product.

Comments about LUSH Soak and Float:

For a very long time I've suffered from really bad dandruff. They would be like white snow flakes on my head and it would get all over my cloths.I've tried millions of diff products.I'm a HUGE Lush fan and I wanted to really like this product, but we didn't make a right fit.I hate the smell, to me it smells like bbq sauce or cigs but I tried to overlook that, but in all honesty this shampoo did nothing to my hair just made it smell. What actually did end up helping my scalp was the solid shampoo called New with Retread conditioner, ironic but true.
