Vancouver, BC (October 2007) - LUSH Fresh Handmade Cosmetics have committed to giving all proceeds from the Charity Pot Hand and Body Lotion to charity (minus the Tax).
Launching mid-October 2007, the Charity Pot is a luxurious hand and body lotion, packaged in the signature LUSH black pot, and featuring details of beneficiary charities on the lids. LUSH are disbursing the money from the Charity Pot to organisations working in three main areas: environmental conservation, animal protection and humanitarian causes. Some of the first charities to receive funds include; WaterCan, TreePeople, Amazon Conservation Team, International Fund for Animal Welfare, Clean Ocean Action and UNICEF's Unite for Children, Unite against AIDS campaign.
LUSH Founder CEO Mark Constantine, says "We founded LUSH on the principle of making products that are fresh and natural, with minimal or no packaging and no animal testing. LUSH is kind to the environment, animals and our customers, and now we want to do even more, to be proactive in helping those who fight against climate change, animal abuse and environmental degradation."
The Charity Pot Program will initially start as a one-year program, with additional charities added throughout the year. North American President and CEO, Mark Wolverton comments, "We look to support individual projects rather than offering core funding where possible. This way we know exactly where our money is going and can communicate the progress and success to our customer-base."
For charitable organisations or projects that are interested in being considered for the Charity Pot program, they can email charitypot@lush.com with a description of their charity/project, how they would choose to allocate the money, and include their full contact details.
