We’re switching to a palm oil-free soap base
The soaring international demand for palm oil (commonly used in processed foods, cosmetics and now even bio-fuel) devastates our rainforests and massively increases greenhouse gasses.
LUSH is contributing to a solution by minimizing our use of palm oil. By the end of 2008 all of our soap base will be palm oil-free and we’re encouraging others (including our competitors) to do the same.
We’re getting recycled plastic packaging
In an industry leading move, we’re switching to packaging made with 100% post-consumer plastic.
New post-consumer recycled bottles (details)
We’ll begin rolling out a new clear plastic bottle made with 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic this spring. In late March you’ll start seeing the new 250ml/8.4 fl oz PCR bottles and by July all sizes of our bottled shampoos, conditioners and shower gels will arrive in eco-friendly bottles. While PCR bottles may cost more, it’s the right thing to do.
